Denver Nuggets point guard Jameer Nelson recently had some fun with his power forward Nikola Jokic, telling the media the cold-hard truth about the big man while poking a little fun at himself.

“Jokic an athlete? He's a good player,” Nelson told BSN Denver's T.J. McBride. “I'm old and fat and I can jump higher than Jokic… off one foot.”

Tell us how you really feel, Jameer.

Nelson, who isn't know as the most athletic guard himself with a 6-foot, 190-pound frame, can attest to his teammate's athletic shortcomings as he's seen it first-hand in practice.

Jokes aside, the Serbian international has had his share of issues with conditioning and in some way acquiescing to the European stereotype of great footwork with little athletic ability.

But Jokic is not just a bruising big with no other skills, as he possesses a solid mid-range game to pair with his back-to-the-basket game and exceptional passing skills.

“When people get tired, they make mental mistakes,” head coach Michael Malone told reporters on Sunday. “(Jokic is) such an integral part of who we want to be, that he has to be more disciplined.”

Malone reiterated that the center's playmaking abilities stem from his younger days as an overweight point-man.

“He will tell you, he used to be a fat point guard,” said Malone.
