Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell continues to blow people’s minds away in his first season in the NBA. Showing poise and focus not usually seen from rookies playing in their first playoffs series, Mitchell once again displayed his steely resolve amidst pressure-packed postseason conditions on Wednesday, when he unloaded 28 points on 10-for-25 shooting with six rebounds, two assists, and a steal in 43 minutes to lead the Jazz to a 102-95 road win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The win tied the series between the two teams at 1-1 and gave the Jazz the momentum ahead of Game 3, which is going to be played in Salt Lake City this coming Saturday.

Mitchell’s performance in Game 2 also made him the first rookie since 1996 to record at least 25 points in his first two playoff games, per Basketball Reference.  Mitchell had 27 in Game 1, albeit in a 116-108 loss to the Thunder.

For those wondering, the last rookie to do it was Arvydas Sabonis, who was already 31 when he scored 26 points in back-to-back games for the Portland Trail Blazers during the first round of the 1996 NBA playoffs. Coincidentally, Sabonis generated those numbers against the Jazz.
