The Utah Jazz suffered a significant blow with the loss of Joe Johnson for around two weeks due to a wrist injury. With that loss, head coach Quin Snyder now plans to use Jonas Jerebko in a much bigger role in the coming games.

“Unfortunately, we’re in a situation where Joe (Johnson) and Dante (Exum), a couple of our important players are out. It is what it is,” Snyder said per Eric Woodyard of the Deseret News. “It’s more than just one guy stepping up, it’s our whole team continuing to execute together and play to each other’s strengths and Jonas is part of that.”

Jerebko, who signed with the Jazz on a two-year, $8.2 million deal this offseason, had only played four minutes in the first seven games of the season. However, he saw 20 minutes against the Portland Trail Blazers with Johnson out and had eight points, seven rebounds, and two assists.

Jerebko is not nearly the caliber of scorer Johnson is, but he is a capable three-point shooter who can help space the floor on offense and is also a willing and versatile defender. He should be a steady contributor off the bench for the Jazz while Johnson recovers from his wrist injury.
