The Utah Jazz have officially announced that they have signed former Gonzaga guard Nigel Williams-Goss. Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium tweeted that the deal is for three years, $4.8 million, with a full guarantee in Year 1, but the tweet has since been deleted.

Williams-Goss was selected by the Jazz with the 55th pick in the 2017 draft. However, instead of playing for Utah’s G League team after Summer League, the Gonzaga product decided to go overseas, signing a contract with Serbian club Partizan.

Williams-Goss found plenty of success playing in Serbia. He won the Serbian Cup MVP in 2018 and averaged 17.0 points and 6.7 assists in the EuroCup. The 24-year-old played for Olympiacos this past season and appeared in 30 EuroLeague games with the Greek club, along with playing in the Greek Basket League.

Now, Williams-Goss will try his hand in the best league in the world. It’s clear that he has the talent and potential to be a productive NBA player. We will see if his skills translate from the EuroLeague.

The 6-foot-3 guard joins a team that is gearing up for a big postseason run. The Jazz recently revamped their roster by trading for point guard Mike Conley and signing forward Bojan Bogdanovic. The team's focus has been on surrounding Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert with shooters, and Williams-Goss can help with this.

Expect to see Williams-Goss get minutes backing up Mitchell when he takes a breather. If he impresses in his first month, Williams-Goss could become a mainstay in the Jazz lineup behind Mitchell.
