Although LaVar Ball has mostly made a lot of headlines for his absurd claims and controversial statements, one thing that cannot be denied is his passion for his sons and belief that they can all be great professional basketball players. Now, he has drawn high praise for it and even earned the respect of Jeanie Buss, who could potentially play a big part in Lonzo Ball‘s future in the NBA.

The Los Angeles Lakers‘ controlling owner was recently interviewed by Tania Ganguli of the LA Times, where she admitted hearing about what the elder Ball has been saying in public about his son. Buss also added that she has dealt with many parents of professional athletes in the past, which adds to his admiration of LaVar's devotion to his children.

“I am aware of some of the comments of Lonzo’s dad, and I think he’s someone who’s passionate about his son,” said Jeanie Buss, the Lakers controlling owner. “I admire that. In my long history there was a time when I was heavily involved in tennis promotion, so I dealt with a lot of the tennis players’ parents. Their commitment to their kids rivals LaVar Ball’s connection to his own children.”

LaVar Ball has been very vocal about his preference to see Lonzo play for the Lakers, as he wants him to play for the team he cheered for while growing up, as well as keep him close to family. The Ball's are from Southern California, and are still currently living in the state.

It remains to be seen if LaVar will get his wish, but the odds on it to come into fruition has improved when the Lakers were able to keep their pick and to select second overall in next month's draft. Despite the team already having D'Angelo Russell and Jordan Clarkson, the favorite choice for the pick remains to be Lonzo Ball.
