The New York Jets and Jamal Adams haven't made much progress on a contract extension, leading many to believe that he could be traded. C.J. Mosley, who's entering his second season with the Jets, says that it would be a ‘crazy move' for New York to trade Adams.

“First of all, he’s one of the leaders on the team,” Mosley said, via Rich Cimini of ESPN.com. “That’s first and foremost. He brings that extra energy whether guys want it or not. Sometimes you might be tired or not feeling good, but as soon as he steps on the field, you’re going to hear that voice and he’ll be flying around. To have that presence in the secondary, a guy that can make plays in the passing game and also plays in the backfield — in the box — that’s always exciting.”

Just a few years ago, the Jets selected Adams with the No. 6 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Since his arrival in New York, Adams has cemented himself as arguably the best safety in the NFL.

In his first three seasons, Adams has combined for 273 tackles, six forced fumbles, and two interceptions. Additionally, the LSU product has recorded 25 pass breakups, 12 sacks, and two touchdowns.

Despite his impressive play, Adams was among the names being floated around in trade rumors in 2019. Most recently, Jets GM Joe Douglas shared that he'd begin speaking to Adams about an extension in the near future.

However, if both sides are unable to negotiate an agreement, the Jets could look to trade the All-Pro safety. It's safe to say that if New York shipped Adams elsewhere, Mosley wouldn't be a fan of the move.
