New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims just got a bad break after going down with a case of food poisoning, which forced him to miss a bulk of the team’s offseason training. It also had him losing a lot of pounds, which should make him think twice about eating salmon — the culprit — again in the future, per Andy Vasquez of USA TODAY:

Mims wasn't on the field for most of the offseason program because of his bout with food poisoning. He said he went from 217 pounds down to 197. He hasn't gained all the weight back — he's now about 208 pounds — but he says he's feeling good and ready to contribute after a slow start to training camp.

Mims, however, is now feeling well and he is looking forward to proving his worth for the Jets’ offense that had plenty of troubles in the 2020 NFL season.

The former Baylor Bears wideout was selected by the Jets in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft (59th overall) but he only appeared in a total of nine games in his rookie season due to injuries. He finished the 2020 campaign with just 357 receiving yards on 23 receptions. He’s still looking to catch the first touchdown of his pro career, which he hopes will come this year.

Then again, he has to make a great impression first in the preseason games in order to climb up the wide receiver pecking order.
