The winless New York Jets will be taking on the Seattle Seahawks in Week 14 as the team's chances to win a regular season game in 2020 before Week 17 comes to a close continue to grow slimmer and slimmer. However, for the Jets, a team that has yet to record a win and currently sits at a dismal 0-13 on the season, losses may actually be more valuable than victories at this point in the year.

As it stands today, the Jets would pick No. 1 overall in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft with current Clemson Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence widely considered to be the best overall prospect this time around. With Lawrence on the mind, could the Jets already be in full-on tank mode?

According to a recent report from Brian Costello of the New York Post, the Jets could be without rookie wide receiver Denzel Mims on Sunday against the Seahawks as the first-year pass-catcher deals with a family emergency in Texas. Of course, hopefully everything is perfectly fine in regards to Mims and his family, though his absence would only help lead the Jets straight into another loss—which could be part of a bigger picture move based on Costello's article.

“Rookie wide receiver Denzel Mims had to return to his home in Texas to deal with a family emergency, according to a source,” wrote Costello. “That means he is not being tested for COVID-19 and would not be eligible to play against the Seahawks if he did not return to New Jersey in time to be tested Wednesday night.”

With the lowly Jets fresh off of a crushing defeat at the hands of the Las Vegas Raiders and the Seahawks looking to rebound after a rare loss at home to the hobbled New York Giants, it is safe to say that lightning won't strike twice for Seattle as a win in Week 14 should come quite easy.
