New York Jets safety Jamal Adams made headlines with his social media jab at Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen prior to the 2018 NFL season. However, it appears his opinion on the young quarterback has changed.

Adams indicated that he and Allen would develop a connection on the field thanks to the latter's erratic passing. He has since refuted that notion with some high praise during an appearance on One Bills Live.

“He’s a phenomenal quarterback, don’t get me wrong,” Adams said. “Runs a lot. He can definitely, you know, keep a defense on his toes should I say. You gotta have a spy on him because the guy can run. He has a bright future and I’m looking forward to the matchup for the long distance.”

Adams later revealed that his comments were an attempt to spur Allen to throw his way. Unfortunately, it did not work during their lone meeting in early December. Allen did not play particularly well after going 18-for-36 for 206 yards in the loss. He also threw two interceptions which both went to cornerback Trumaine Johnson.

Although it was a rough day for Allen, it is clear that Adams had seen enough to have a change of heart. It appears he may have been a bit surprised by his stellar athleticism. Regardless, there is now a sense of mutual respect growing between two promising, young players in the AFC East. While Allen may have gained a fan, it is still safe to assume that Adams will be looking to bait him in any way he can moving forward.
