New York Jets running back Le'Veon Bell caused quite an uproar after he was seen bowling on the night before the team's Week 14 matchup against the Miami Dolphins. He has since offered up his response on the matter.

Bell had already been ruled out for the homestand versus the Dolphins with a flu before going on his bowling trip. According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, he is more shocked by how well he bowled than the reaction to his night out:

Le’Veon Bell says he is surprised about the hub-bub about his bowling trip: “The bigger surprise is I bowled a 251 off the flu. … Career-high.”

Bell added that doctors suggested that he should get active and opted to take advantage by going to the bowling alley with friends and family.

Le’Veon Bell said that doctors told him to get out of the house and get moving. Not just sit at home. He had friends & family in town for the game. So he went out with them Saturday night.

It is safe to say that the reaction to Bell's bowling trip had been blown out of proportion. The fact that such a personal matter was the cause of some backlash is indicative of just how poorly the 2019 NFL season has gone in New York.

Regardless, the Jets were ultimately able to get back into the win column with a clutch 22-21 win over the Dolphins. They now have bigger concerns with their upcoming road trip to take on the Baltimore Ravens on a short week.
