Le'Veon Bell signed with the New York Jets earlier this week, marking an end to a tumultuous six-year run with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Now that Bell has found his new home, the running back says he is happy.

“I'm truly happy,” said Bell in a telephone interview on Thursday, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. “Don't get me wrong, everything didn't happen smoothly.”

That's for sure.

Bell sat out the entire 2018 campaign due to a contract dispute with the Steelers. He also held out through Week 1 of 2017, but returned in Week 2 and ended up rushing for 1,291 yards and nine touchdowns while hauling in 85 receptions for 655 yards and a couple of scores en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and First-Team All-Pro honors.

The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Michigan State University, was originally selected by Pittsburgh in the second round (48th pick overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He had a relatively quiet rookie season, finishing with 860 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging a meager 3.5 yards per carry, but the following year, Bell broke out, racking up 1,361 yards and eight scores while catching 83 receptions for 854 yards and three touchdowns, resulting in a trip to the Pro Bowl and a First-Team All-Pro selection.

Overall, Bell has made three Pro Bowls during his six-year NFL career.

The Jets are coming off of a season in which they won just four games, which ultimately caused the firing of head coach Todd Bowles. New York then replaced him with former Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase earlier this offseason.
