The New York Jets are expected to sign former Tennessee Titans defensive back Logan Ryan to a one-year deal, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

The Jets were considered one of the frontrunners for Ryan after he didn’t re-sign with the Titans. There was some concern about how much money the Jets were willing to spend which is a big reason why the deal might have taken so long to get done.

General manager Joe Douglas has handed out a bunch of short term deals this offseason as to not lock up a lot of money long term.

Ryan already has two Super Bowl championships locked up from his time with the New England Patriots. He spent his last season with the Titans having his best season ever with 113 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and four interceptions.

Adding Ryan is another of a string of moves to make the Jets' secondary better. The Jets also added Quincy Wilson, Ashytyn Davis, and Pierre Desir this offseason.

There was some thought at the beginning of the offseason that the Titans would bring back Ryan, but he said his former team never really offered him a contract:

“It's just a business,” Ryan said on fellow Rutgers alums Devin and Jason McCourty's “Double Coverage” podcast. “Tennessee really never offered me a contract. They never really talked extension or free agency. They never really tried to bring me back.”

If Ryan has another big year, he should be in line for a big contract next offseason.
