The New York Jets may be considered the frontrunners to sign free-agent running back Le'Veon Bell, but that does not mean that the entire front office is in agreement on bringing him aboard.
According to Manish Mehta of The New York Daily News, the Jets' organization seems to be split on Bell, with some members of the franchise worried about his price tag, his workload since he entered the league 2013 and his questionable attitude.
New York has $102 million in cap room, so it certainly has money to spend, but with Bell reportedly seeking somewhere in the neighborhood of $15-16 million per year, the Jets may be wondering if that cash would be better spent elsewhere.
Bell sat out the entire 2018 campaign due to a contract dispute with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also held out through Week 1 of 2017 before returning in Week 2 and finishing with 1,291 yards and nine touchdowns while hauling in 85 receptions for 655 yards and a couple of scores en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro selection.
The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Michigan State University, was originally selected by the Steelers in the second round (48th pick overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.
Since then, he has made three Pro Bowl appearances and has earned First-Team All-Pro honors twice, most notably in 2014 when he racked up 1,361 yards and eight touchdowns while catching 83 passes for 854 yards and three scores.
The Jets ranked just 26th in the NFL in rushing offense this past season, so they could certainly use a player like Bell in their backfield.
