The New York Jets have lost wide receiver Quincy Enunwa for the season due to a neck injury, according to Brian Costello of The New York Post. Enuwa suffered the neck injury in the team's opening game against the Buffalo Bills.

In 2017, Enunwa also suffered a serious neck injury in training camp that caused him to miss the entire season. At this point it's unclear if the neck injury is considered career-threatening, but whenever it involves the neck it has to be taken seriously.

Enunwa left briefly during the first quarter on Sunday but returned to the game. It wasn't until he underwent further tests on Monday that the team found out just how serious the injury was.

This is a blow to the Jets offense, but the team did trade a sixth-round pick on Tuesday to the New England Patriots for wide receiver Demaryius Thomas. At the time it seemed like a move to add some depth to the wide receiver corps but now it's clear that this was a move to bring in another guy to replace Enunwa.

Enunwa signed a four-year extension worth $36 million back in December. When he is on the field he is a great talent, but keeping on the field has been a problem for him.

Hopefully, this isn't a career-threatening injury and he can return next year to help out the Jets offense. If this injury forces him out of the NFL this is another career that has been cut way too short because of injuries.
