New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold is heading into his third season in the league after being drafted third overall in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Now, per Brian Costello of the New York Post, Darnold admitted that he focused on improving his diet and lower-body strength in preparation for training camp and the 2020 campaign. Unfortunately for him, that includes avoiding eating at fast food hotspot In-N-Out every day.

“I’m making sure I’m not eating whatever I want to eat. I’m not having In-N-Out every single day and making sure I’m eating good food,” the Jets QB said Wednesday.

“Putting the right things in my body that’s a huge part of it. I’m working out four or five days a week. I don’t have to worry about how much work I put in. It’s really about what I’m putting in my body. It’s making sure I’m doing everything I can to make my lower body as strong as possible and making sure my upper body stays loose, I guess for lack of a better term. Making sure I’m still staying strong. I want to make sure my arm is ready to go. Keep my arm in shape and keep my core right.”

Certainly, avoiding fatty fast food is a good first step for the 23-year-old Jets signal-caller, as is improving his overall conditioning. With that said, Sam Darnold is trending in the right direction in his career.

The Jets went 4-9 in the 13 starts Darnold had in his rookie year. However, he improved to 7-6 in his second season.

With an improved diet free of In-N-Out, fans surely hope that the team’s record with Darnold continues to improve.
