The 2018 NFL season didn't go the way the New York Jets wanted, but it wasn't really all about winning. First and foremost, it was about the development of rookie quarterback Sam Darnold. The Jets may have finished the year 4-12, but Darnold showed plenty of flashes and showed he can be the team's franchise quarterback.

That alone is something to celebrate, and there's a lot of optimism surrounding the team now. Darnold is still only 21, and he was one of the youngest quarterbacks in NFL history last year. New York also went out and made some splashy moves like signing Le'Veon Bell to ensure he'll have more help next year.

It's a new-look Jets team, and they even got new uniforms to signal the entering of a new era. They're looking to carry over the changes they've made onto the field, and the team apparently wants to be more aggressive on offense.

“It’s going to be fun to just attack this year,” Darnold said, per Al Iannazzone of Newsday. “It’s going to be our thing to attack defenses.”

“With Coach Gase and all the coaches on that side of the ball, it’s been awesome.  Good things to come. We can all tell,” Darnold declared.

Next season, the Jets will likely play a lot faster and put more trust in Darnold, so it makes sense that he's on board.

The Jets weren't very aggressive under old coach Todd Bowles and played things fairly conservatively. Adam Gase is known as an offensive guru and will be running a much more innovative scheme in his first year as head coach. Darnold is clearly looking forward to that, and Jets fans should be really excited about the 2019 season.
