The New York Jets' pursuit of a wide receiver has been fruitless so far. They couldn't land Tyreek Hill in a trade and have since pivoted to other star wideouts. The Jets were recently linked to Seattle Seahawks star DK Metcalf and were ready to make a huge trade to get the 2020 Pro Bowler.

According to Howard Eskin of 94WIP, the Jets offered Seattle the 1oth overall pick for Metcalf and were turned down because the Seahawks are not interested in trading him. The Athletic's Connor Hughes reported that the Jets did not offer their first-round pick, though he did back up Eskin's report that Metcalf is virtually untouchable.

Getting a star wide receiver is very important for the Jets as they look to build around Zack Wilson. As the young quarterback enters his second season, he will need a strong option to throw to. The addition of tight end C.J. Uzomah is a solid get, as is the addition of guard Laken Tomlinson to protect Wilson, but they still need a true top pass-catcher.

New York hasn't had much luck so far this offseason fining a star wideout but their fortunes should change very soon. The 2022 NFL Draft is in three weeks and there are tons of big-name wide receivers to choose from. They have the fourth overall pick in addition to the 10th, so they can address a more valuable position first and then add some like Treylon Burks, Garrett Wilson or Drake London.

Wilson's shaky rookie year put his status as New York's future in doubt. He needs to do his part in improving while the Jets need to put the right supporting cast around him so that he has the chance to.
