The New York Jets are hoping to bounce back in Week 2 against the San Francisco 49ers following a disappointing start to the 2020 NFL season. Unfortunately, it seems they will be severely shorthanded on offense. Head coach Adam Gase essentially confirmed that wide receiver Jamison Crowder will be sidelined against the 49ers with a hamstring injury, NFL Network's Kim Jones:

New York was already reeling over the loss of running back Le'Veon Bell, who was recently placed on injured reserve with a hamstring issue as well. Not having Crowder available leaves quarterback Sam Darnold without his two best weapons on offense.

This is what the Jets' personnel will look like when they take on the defending NFC champion 49ers in Week 2, per ESPN's Field Yates.

Gase's comments are indicative of the role Crowder has played since signing with New York prior to the 2019 campaign. He was one of the few bright spots after establishing himself as a safety net for Darnold in the passing game. He maintained his status with seven receptions for 115 yards and a touchdown against the Bills.

Although the Jets already have a solid contingency plan in the backfield with veteran Frank Gore taking over for Bell, it remains to be seen which receiver will step up and fill the void left by Crowder. It is safe to say that Darnold may have his work cut out trying to make do against a formidable 49ers defense with a receiving corps headed by Breshad Perriman, Chris Hogan, Braxton Berrios, and tight end Chris Herndon.
