The New York Jets are in the market for a cornerback, and Connor Hughes of The Athletic is reporting that the club could have serious interest in James Bradberry.

The Jets are also rumored to be looking at fellow cornerback Byron Jones, so clearly, the position is rather high on New York's list of priorities entering free agency.

Bradberry has spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Carolina Panthers and is coming off of a 2019 campaign in which he played 15 games and registered 65 tackles, a sack, three interceptions and 12 passes defended.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Samford and Arkansas State, was originally selected by the Panthers in the second round (62nd pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He appeared in 13 contests during his rookie season, finishing with 59 tackles, a couple of picks and 10 passes defended. The following year, Bradberry participated in every game, totaling 85 tackles, a sack, three interceptions, a forced fumble and 10 passes defended, and in 2018, he once again played in all 16 contests and recorded 70 tackles, a sack, a pick, a forced fumble and 15 passes defended.

Some consider Bradberry to be the best available cornerback on the free-agent market this offseason.

The Jets are certainly in need of help in their secondary and just cut fellow corner Trumaine Johnson, whom the team signed to a massive $72.5 million deal a couple of years ago.

New York was expected by some to be a playoff contender in 2019, but it went just 7-9. Gang Green has not made the postseason since the 2010-11 campaign.
