The New York Jets have two of the top-10 picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, and they're ready to use one to acquire Deebo Samuel. Many expect the Jets to hang on to the fourth pick. But according to Pro Football Network's Tony Pauline, Joe Douglas is ready to move the 10th overall selection if it mean Deebo is in green and white in 2022.

“What do the Jets do with the 10th pick? No surprise here,” Pauline writes, “but word in league circles is the Jets, and most specifically Joe Douglas, are all in on using that pick to acquire Deebo Samuel.”

Samuel made his desire to leave San Francisco clear last week. Contract negotiations between Samuel and the 49ers had broken down, and Samuel is looking for a change of scenery. Enter the New York Jets. But any team that acquires Deebo Samuel will be expected to meet the receiver's contract extension demands. That's a complicated situation.

Surely, Samuel expects a contract in the neighborhood of Davante Adams' and Tyreek Hill's massive extensions the two received following their respective trades. But Samuel, a self-proclaimed “wide back,” may have inadvertently hurt his chances at being paid as a top-tier receiver with that description. Teams are much less willing to pay running backs than receivers. And Samuel's consistent alignment in the backfield with the 49ers could hurt his chances at a massive payday.

But the Jets' seem undeterred. Being willing to part with the 10th overall pick shows how New York sees Samuel. He would instantly slot in as the Jets' best offensive weapon. He'd also give second-year quarterback Zach Wilson plenty of opportunities to get the ball out of his hands quickly. New York seems to be moving in the right direction. And adding Samuel would give the Jets one of the league's best and most unique playmakers.
