Even as Manchester City and Arsenal did not play on Saturday, they both sure came away from the day as winners thanks to the 1-1 Premier League draw result between Liverpool and Tottenham.

As has been the case as of late, Liverpool’s high-octane pressing system helped it maintain possession with ease over the course of this contest. But even as Liverpool was able to tally for 22 total shots against Tottenham, only three of them were on target and 13 of them came outside of the box.

In speaking after the fixture, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp provided his takeaway on the draw finish, where he acknowledged that his team was missing “luck” during crucial moments of the fixture.

“They are down in the dressing room, it was intense,” Klopp said. “When you play top teams, you need luck in the decisive moments. I'm not happy, but not as sad as the players are right now and it is my job to explain why something happens like this.”

At the least, Klopp did come away from the result with a silver lining.

“A difficult game, but I'm really happy with the performance of my boys against a top team that might play Champions League next season,” Klopp said.

“They have world-class strikers on the pitch set up for counter-attacking. It makes life not easy, 1-0 down is difficult and we kept calm and forced the equalizer.”

This result has now opened up a golden opportunity for both Manchester City and Arsenal to take advantage of in their respective fixtures tomorrow. A win for Manchester City against Newcastle United would see it open up a three-point lead at the top of the table with three contests to go in the campaign. On the other hand, Arsenal can create a bit of separation from Tottenham for fourth-place in the league standings, as it needs a victory over Leeds United to build a four-point advantage after matchday 36.

For now, Liverpool has quite a hectic schedule ahead for the rest of the ongoing campaign. Klopp’s side will feature in the UEFA Champions League and FA Cup finals later this month and also still has three league matches remaining.
