After months of lengthy talks between the two sides, there is now light at the end of the tunnel in the contract extension dilemma between Juventus club officials and Paulo Dybala.

For the moment, Dybala is set to join the likes of Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe and Barcelona midfielder Pedri as the star talents who will become free agents in 2022. The Argentine forward is currently playing in the final season of the five-year extension deal that he signed in 2017.

Reports have noted that Dybala and Juventus each share a mutual interest in coming to terms on a new deal, but salary-related matters have been the cause of the standoff between the two sides.

Still, Dybala is well optimistic that this season will not be his last with the Bianconeri.

In speaking following Juventus’ UEFA Champions League group stage win over Malmo, Dybala opened up about his confidence that he will soon sign off on a new deal with the club.

“We hope to close soon for the renewal,” Dybala said. “Everyone wants to complete the negotiations, I think that this week there will be another meeting between the parties. They know that I have a great desire to stay in Turin. I know that the management also wants to extend my contract, and we have started talking again.

“I hope that everything will be over soon and that good news will arrive for everyone. I am very confident.”

Juventus vice-chairman Pavel Nedved also touched on this matter, where he noted that the club is aiming to finalize this agreement “very soon.”

Dybala has been an instrumental player for Juventus so far this season. He leads the team in goal contributions in Serie A play with two and played a crucial role in helping the Italian powerhouse clinch the win over Malmo with a key penalty goal.

For now, Dybala and Juventus will look to get back on track in Serie A play beginning with its upcoming fixtures against AC Milan and Spezia.
