Chelsea has continued its mad dash of offseason success, reaching a deal with Bayer Leverkusen wonder Kai Havertz over a £72 million ($96 million) deal, according to Goal.

The German midfielder has signed a five-year deal that would keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2025, deal which would be official after passing his medical examinations.

Bayer Leverkusen manager Peter Bosz admitted he wouldn't expect Havertz to train with the squad, noting so at a Monday press conference:

Per Bulinews:

“Unfortunately our squad isn't set yet. I no longer expect Kevin Volland and Kai Havertz to train with us again,” said Bosz. “It's possible that other players will be on the move as well. In any case, we have to bring in some players, too.”

Volland is primed for a move to AS Monaco while Havertz has been heavily linked to Chelsea as one of their prime targets. The two sides have been in arduous negotiations for weeks, and The Blues are now a medical exam away from securing their biggest get of the offseason.

This has been a manager's dream for Frank Lampard, as he's been able to completely retool his squad, with a very heavy German influence, nonetheless. First, it was center forward Timo Werner coming from RB Leipzig, then right winger Hakim Ziyech from Ajax — two transfers that took place while the Premier League was still underway.

Then came the signings of Ben Chilwell (Leicester City) and Thiago Silva (Paris Saint-Germain) to reinforce the back end — now adding Malang Sarr (OGC Nice) and Kai Havertz. The six signings altogether render over £200 million ($266 million) spent this summer alone.

Kai Havertz gives Chelsea a multi-dimensional attacking midfielder presence at the ripe age of 21, able to get the best out of his prime years with this longstanding pact until 2025.
