Bruce Weber spoke like a man who knew he was done after his Kansas State Wildcats suffered a first-round loss to the West Virginia Mountaineers on Wednesday night. Sure enough, Weber resigned from his post on Thursday morning.

Kansas State announced the move, which came after 10 years of Weber running the program.

The Wildcats struggled to a 14-17 record this season, including a 6-12 record in the Big 12. Only West Virginia was worse in conference play (4-14), but Kansas State wasn't able to beat them on Wednesday. After the game, Weber delivered a heartfelt speech when he was asked if it was his last game:

Weber was hired back in 2012 and had a decent amount of success at Kansas State, notching a 184-147 record overall and an 82-98 mark in the Big 12. He took the Wildcats to five NCAA Tournaments, with a run of three in a row from 2017-19. That included the program's first Elite Eight berth in eight years in 2018. They won a share of the Big 12 title in 2013 and 2019, only to stumble these past three seasons.

The 65-year-old signed up at Kansas State after his notable run with the Illinois Fighting Illini. Weber coached one of the greatest Illini teams of all time, going 37-2 in the 2004-05 season. That Illinois team went undefeated until the last game of the regular season and then lost in the NCAA Championship Game to North Carolina.

It's unclear if Weber will retire or look for another job after resigning from Kansas State.
