The University of Texas is preparing to honor former Texas athletes by inducting them into the Texas Athletics Hall of Honor. Among the 11 people in the Class of 2022 is Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant.

The university released the names of the inductees and information regarding the ceremony on Wednesday.

The release recognizes Kevin Durant as “one of the most decorated Longhorns ever.” He was named the 2007 Collegiate National Player of the Year. Despite only playing for the Longhorns for one year, Durant made a huge impact on the organization. The Longhorns retired his jersey No. 35 shortly after he departed for the NBA.

The University of Texas also recognized Durant's achievements outside of its organization. The release recognized him as a “three-time Olympic Gold Medalist, two-time NBA Champion and 2014 NBA Most Valuable Player, as well as a 12-time NBA All-Star.”

The induction ceremony is scheduled for Friday, September 16, roughly a month before the start of the NBA season. Along with the ceremony, Durant and the ten other inductees will also receive a special salute during the Texas Longhorns vs. UTSA game on September 17.

By then, who knows where Kevin Durant will be. Right now, he's expected to continue his starring role with the Brooklyn Nets come October. Durant is unmoved in Brooklyn, despite requesting a trade at the end of June. If it were up to him, he'd be a member of the Miami Heat or Phoenix Suns by now.
