RJ Barrett and Zion Williamson both surpassed Sacramento Kings forward Marvin Bagley III's Duke record for most points scored by a freshman in their debut, per Jonathan Givony of ESPN.
It appears that R.J. Barrett's night is done with 33 points in 32 minutes, easily clinching the record for most points scored in a game by a Duke freshman (ever). Marvin Bagley had 25 points against Elon last year. Zion Williamson also broke his record with 28 points. https://t.co/t81QIcfKcd

It did not take long for the two highly-touted Duke prospects to show that they are the real deal as they led the No. 4 Blue Devils to a 118-84 routing of the No. 2 Kentucky Wildcats. Barrett dropped 33 points on 13-of-26 shooting, and connected on three triples in 32 minutes. He also added four rebounds and six assists. Williamson, who is currently atop most 2019 NBA mock draft boards, scored 28 points on an efficient 11-of-13 shooting, and grabbed seven board in 23 minutes on the night.

Bagley set the bar last season most points scored by a Duke freshman in their first game, scoring 25 points on 12-of-18 shooting. However, the no. 2 pick of the 2018 NBA draft was only able to keep the record for one year as Barrett and Williamson now sit at 1 and 2 on the list.
Barrett, who sits at number two on most mock draft boards, also came within one point of tying the team's freshman record of 34 for most points scored in a game. Bagley III shares that honor with Philadelphia 76ers guard JJ Redick. It's safe to say that one of the lefty star duo will be on top of that list by the season's end.
Bagley, on the other hand, is having himself a solid debut season so far in the NBA. He is currently averaging 12.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 23 minutes off the bench for the Kings.
