Sacramento Kings big man Richaun Holmes stepped away from the team last week due to personal reasons, but it was unknown at the time as to why. It's now been revealed that he is in a fierce battle with his ex-wife over custody of their six-year-old child and she is accusing him of physically abusing their son.

The Kings released a statement regarding the ongoing investigation on Thursday. Via Jason Anderson:

Allexis Holmes, who has been separated from the Kings fan favorite since 2019, says he took his frustrations out on their son and made him bleed from the head, according to court documents. She even recently filed a restraining order against Holmes in Sacramento County on behalf of the child.

The Kings star isn't allowed to see his son until he and the ex-wife appear in court later this month. Per Robin Epley of the Sacramento Bee, Holmes has denied all allegations:

Ann Moder, a lawyer for Richaun Holmes, told me that her client denies all the allegations and attributes them to an ex-wife attempting to undermine her client’s attempts to gain full custody of their son.

The NBA takes these types of cases extremely seriously and if he is found guilty by chance, his future with the Kings, and in the league in general, will be in jeopardy.
