The Sacramento Kings' trade for Domantas Sabonis in exchange for Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield and a few other assets made one thing clear: De'Aaron Fox is here to stay.

NBA insider Jordan Schultz confirmed that is the case, noting it is now “highly unlikely” that the Kings will trade Fox before the Thursday deadline. Sacramento sees the speedy guard as a future All-Star who can be the face of the franchise for a long time, and with another All-Star caliber talent in tow, it might not be long before the Kings finally experience that playoff berth they have been searching for.

There are apparently four teams interested in Fox, such as the New York Knicks, Indiana Pacers, Philadelphia 76ers and Utah Jazz. However, given how things currently stand, fans shouldn't expect any more big moves from the Kings.

It is also worth noting that De'Aaron Fox signed a five-year, $163 million deal with the Kings in 2020. With that said, his contract is a bit difficult to move even if the Kings want to. Not to mention, the assets they would want in return for a 24-year-old player with a ton of upside.

It remains to be seen what else will the Kings do to improve the roster around Fox and Domantas Sabonis. They are 20-35 on the season, so it might be too late for them to stage a comeback for the playoffs at this point. However, they can certainly position themselves as a potential contender for 2022-23 with the moves they could make by the deadline and during the offseason.
