This year's Las Vegas Summer League did not feature many of the notable players that had headlined the rookie class. It appears New York Knicks shooting guard Allonzo Trier has taken issue with their absence.

Many of this year's lottery picks were held out of summer league action for their own specific reason, specifically Zion Williamson who got injured during their first game. Trier, however, was not shy about calling them out on Twitter

“The amount of draft picks that didn’t play play and sat out of summer league is some scary stuff,” Trier wrote. “If you ain’t ready for SL bump then good luck when that real association starts lol it’ll be a spooky start for many!

It is easy to see where Trier is coming from. He entered the league with a chip on his shoulder after going undrafted, but he earned a spot in New York by displaying his skill set in Las Vegas. These offseason games provide young players an opportunity to find their footing before making their bones in the NBA. Almost every superstar in the league over the last two decades has managed to show out at summer league.

Regardless, it is clear that the times are changing. Teams have prioritized their players' health over the potential development that comes with playing in the offseason. As a result, fans have seen many of this year's high-profile rookies sit out for precautionary reasons. There is little indication that this will change in the near future, though it will be interesting to see if Trier is able to continue making his point once the regular season rolls around.
