New York Knicks center DeAndre Jordan will not play against his former team, the Los Angeles Clippers, on Sunday afternoon at Staples Center:

This will be Jordan's fourth straight missed game due to an ankle injury. The Knicks are coming off a 125-118 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, but they actually won two games in a row without Jordan before that.

While Jordan is missing this return game, he did face the Clippers at Staples Center earlier this season as a member of the Dallas Mavericks. The 30-year-old had 11 points and 22 rebounds in a 125-121 loss.

Jordan spent the first 10 seasons of his career in Los Angeles. He nearly left for the Mavs in 2015, but ultimately decided to return to the Clippers during a crazy free-agency saga.

The big man finally left for Dallas this past summer, but the Mavs traded him to the Knicks as part of the blockbuster Kristaps Porzingis deal earlier this season. There was some speculation that Jordan would be bought out so he could go sign with a contender, but that didn't happen.

In eight games with New York, DeAndre Jordan is averaging 11.8 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 blocks in 26.8 minutes per game. The veteran is also playing mentor for rookie center Mitchell Robinson, who has been one of the most prolific shot-blocking forces in the league this season.

The Knicks are 13-49 on the season, while the Clippers are 35-29 and fighting to keep a playoff spot. LA is currently the No. 8 seed, holding a three-game lead over the Sacramento Kings.
