New York Knicks big man Enes Kanter seems to have gotten himself into a little trouble with the Turkish government again, this time for insulting a former NBA player in Hedo Turkoglu.

Turkoglu is mostly known for his time with the Orlando Magic. Now, he is a senior adviser to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a role he has held since 2016.

According to the Turkish Newspaper Sabah:

An indictment was filed on the grounds that Kanter has “insulted Turkoglu more than once on different dates.

The Istanbul Cyber Crimes Investigation Bureau prepared the indictment which is based on “humiliating and hurtful messages” made by Kanter against Turkoglu on his social media.

Even though Kanter won't be present, the trial will still go on and the Turkish Government is seeking a prison term of one to four years.

This isn't the first time that Kanter has been in trouble with the Turkish Government.  Last May there was an arrest warrant issued for the Knicks big man.

He was pressed with charges for allegedly being part of a terrorist organization after supporting Fethullah Gulen, a preacher who was a political opponent of Erdogan.

Now, even if convicted he wouldn't be extradited from the United States, but if he leaves for another country that does extradite to Turkey, Kanter could be jailed.

Kanter has been very outspoken on Twitter about his dislike for the current Turkish Government and all of the issues it has caused the Turkish people. Chances are this will probably not be the last time he is charged in the Turkish court with a crime.
