The New York Knicks officially signed Julius Randle, Taj Gibson, Bobby Portis, Wayne Ellington, and Elfrid Payton on Tuesday.

Knicks general manager Scott Perry says all five players are tough-minded guys who will help the team win games in 2019-20.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Wayne, Taj, Elfrid, Bobby and Julius to New York,” said Scott Perry, general manager, New York Knicks. “Collectively, we’re adding a mix of extremely talented and experienced multi-dimensional players who will improve our team as we continue building out a deep and versatile roster. These players are all tough-minded, motivated and ready to compete, and we’re excited to have them as part of the Knicks family.”

New York missed out on Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. The two superstars signed with the Brooklyn Nets. The Knicks signed Randle, Portis, Gibson, Payton, and Ellington after KD and Kyrie joined the Nets.

Gibson and Portis were teammates on the Chicago Bulls, while Payton and Randle played together with the New Orleans Pelicans this past season. Portis and Randle have playoff experience, as does Ellington. Payton and Randle have never played in the postseason.

The Knicks won just 17 games this past season. They drafted R.J. Barrett with the third overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
