By now, it's no question that New York Knicks fans do not like Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young. In Game 2 of their first-round series on Wednesday, Young seemed to have had a rude encounter with one of the thousands in attendance at Madison Square Garden when a fan appeared to have spat on the Hawks superstar while he was set to take the ball out.

Watch closely as a ball of saliva went towards Young's left arm:

This all happened right in front of rapper 50 Cent, no less.

The spitting incident occurred in the fourth quarter of the heated game between the Knicks and the Hawks where New York ended up on top, tying the series at 1-1. Though Young still exploded for 30 points at The Garden, the Knicks managed to keep everyone else in check and come out with an all-important 101-92 rout.

Young has been painted as the villain by New York fans after an incredible playoffs debut in Game 1. The 22-year-old iced the series opener with an impressive floater in the dying seconds of the game and had a few words to say to the very hostile MSG crowd. And, with this disgraceful incident, it seems that there's no love lost between Hawks superstar and the passionate fans in New York.

Ironically, this incident occurred on the same evening that Washington Wizards star Russell Westbrook had his own rude encounter with a Philadelphia 76ers fan. The former MVP had to exit the game after tweaking his ankle and was doused by a bucket of popcorn on his way out by one of the fans attending the game in downtown Philly.

I know we're all excited to watch the playoffs live again but can fans please chill the heck out?
