New York Knicks president of basketball operations Leon Rose told MSG’s Mike Breen that he's hoping to hire the team's next head coach “by the end of July.”

Rose also confirmed multiple reports saying that Mike Miller is under consideration for the job.

Miller took over for David Fizdale and led the Knicks to a 17-27 record before games were suspended in March. He will be battling it out with Tom Thibodeau, Kenny Atkinson, Mike Woodson, Jamahl Mosely, Will Hardy and Ime Udoka for the head coaching gig.

“And Mike [Miller] is obviously one of those candidates. And we’re anticipating that we will go till mid-to-late July. And hopefully, by the end of July we’ll make a decision … whether that’s to keep Mike or go in a different direction,” Leon Rose, the new Knicks boss, said.

“But it’s very exciting. There’s a lot of really great candidates. We’re looking at a lot of different people with a lot of different mindsets and philosophies. And I just need to make sure we go through this process and we dot every ‘I’ and cross every ‘T’.”

The Knicks haven't had a winning record or made the playoffs since the 2012-13 season. The franchise is in dire need of a coach who can bring the team back to the promised land, although Rose has to upgrade the roster as well.

New York had cap space to sign not one, but two max players in the summer of 2019. However, the Knicks couldn't even get a meeting with Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard or Jimmy Butler.

Durant and Irving signed with the Brooklyn Nets, Leonard joined the Los Angeles Clippers and Butler signed with the Miami Heat. Meanwhile, the Knicks used their cap space on Julius Randle, Bobby Portis, Taj Gibson, Wayne Ellington, Elfrid Payton and Reggie Bullock.

Before the 2019-20 season was suspended, New York had just 21 wins. The pressure is on Rose to fix the Knicks. Only time will tell if the former agent can do it.
