Marcus Morris Sr. could be among the hotwire names floating at the trade deadline for teams looking for help. The New York Knicks' leading scorer has a team-friendly one-year, $15 million deal, a sum contenders would be more than willing to honor if they can give out a first-round pick in return.

According to SNY's Ian Begley, the consensus among teams eyeing him is that he could fetch that first-rounder, as he gives any team that acquires him a solid scoring punch, 3-point shooting, and veteran savvy.

“Teams love his leadership and he's been shooting incredibly well,” a representative for one Eastern Conference team said. “You can easily see them getting a late first-round pick for him if that team feels Marcus pushes them over the top.”

Morris is shooting a team-best 18.2 points per game while canning an also-best 48.4% from deep — the third-best mark in the league.

New York could lose Morris for nothing if the Knicks keep him past the deadline, making him a surefire candidate to be traded before the Feb. 6 cutout date.

Morris had verbally agreed to a two-year, $20 million deal with the San Antonio Spurs in free agency before the Knicks freed up some extra cap room in the wake of Reggie Bullock's contract adjustment (to reflect an injury), which allowed him to offer him a gaudier per-year contract, along with the benefit of testing free-agent waters again in 2020.

Morris has been the lone bright spot in a troubled season for the Knicks, who now find themselves in the cellar of the NBA standings at 4-20, bound for another lottery selection.
