The New York Knicks have interest in signing DeMarcus Cousins this summer, but the franchise is reportedly prioritizing Bobby Portis and Julius Randle ahead of Cousins if they don't land Kevin Durant, according to Ian Begley of SNY.

Portis and Randle are younger than Cousins and don't have the injury history which Boogie has. The Knicks, assuming they miss out on Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard and Durant, will shift their focus to Portis and Randle.

If they miss out on those top targets, the Knicks will have strong interest in young bigs Julius Randle and Bobby Portis, per SNY sources.

League sources confirmed to SNY that the Knicks are also considering making a significant short-term offer to DeMarcus Cousins. But some in the organization have said that going after younger players like Randle and Portis is a priority that's ahead of pursuing Cousins, who will be 29 at the beginning of next season.

Portis becomes a restricted free agent this offseason. If the big man signs an offer sheet with the Knicks, the Washington Wizards would have 48 hours to match the offer sheet or let Portis walk. Portis averaged 14.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 50 games with the Chicago Bulls and Wizards in 2018-19 while shooting 44.4 percent from the field, 39.3 percent from beyond the arc and 79.4 percent from the free-throw line.

Randle becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer. He declined his 2019-20 player option with the New Orleans Pelicans. The lefty put up 21.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists this past season while shooting 52.4 percent from the field, 34.4 percent from beyond the arc and 73.1 percent from the free-throw line.
