The New York Knicks and Kevin Knox will open the season against another notable rookie in Madison Square Garden. According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, the Knicks are set to host Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks on Oct. 17.

Knox and the summer league Knicks faced Trae Young and his Hawks in their first game in Las Vegas. Frank Ntilikina will get another chance to lock down Young and showcase his defensive prowess.

For Young, this is an opportunity to play at the mecca in Madison Square Garden, somewhere he's always wanted to play. The dynamic rookie will look to start his career off on the right foot at the World's Most Famous Arena. MSG's bright lights are a great way to start off a career. Perhaps Young will have his first memorable moment in the Garden.

Of course, the Knicks and the Hawks could have a difficult season in front of them. Both teams are amidst a rebuild and the Knicks will be without superstar big man, Kristaps Porzingis.

But regardless, this is an excellent opening matchup. Both teams will get a chance to showcase young players like the aforementioned Knox and Young. But don't sleep on John Collins of the Hawks or Frank Ntilikina and Mitchell Robinson of the Knicks.

These teams may be a couple years away from contending for playoff spots, but the talent on the court won't disappoint. If nothing else, this matchup should be a look into the future of both organizations.
