Despite being the second man to Julius Randle, Obi Toppin has balled out recently off the bench for the Knicks. However, there will be at least a one game pause in his contributions on the court. NBA correspondent Marc Stein tweeted that the power forward is not playing in Sunday's matchup after entering into health and safety protocols.

For now, it is unclear whether or not Toppin has tested positive for COVID-19. According to Sporting News, players are placed in health and safety protocols for multiple reasons, including: testing positive for COVID-19, receiving an inconclusive test, and COVID-19 exposure (unvaccinated only).

Fortunately for New York, the entire Knicks team is vaccinated, including Toppin. This means that if he tests negative for the virus twice within 24 hours, the power forward could return to the game day court as early as Tuesday.

He will miss the Knicks' matchup Sunday afternoon against the reigning NBA champs. Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks will take on the Knicks in New York and attempt to boost their position in the Eastern Conference.

Although a bench player for the Knicks, Toppin has been providing a much needed energy boost for the losing record team. He recently threw down a dunk that could be an early candidate for dunk of the year. The 12-14 Knicks should utilize Toppin's energy and productivity more in their upcoming games when he is cleared to play.
