New York Knicks rookie RJ Barrett is not someone who lacks confidence. He recently said that he believes he can win Rookie of the Year next season and that he plans to become the greatest player in the history of the NBA.

Barrett isn't afraid of competing against anyone, including the GOAT himself, Michael Jordan.

In an interview with Steve Serby of the New York Post, Barrett said he wants to face prime MJ in a game of one-on-one.

Q: If you could go 1-on-1 with anyone in NBA history, who would it be?
A: Michael Jordan, for sure. I love the challenge, so I’d go up against the best.

This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, as most players — past and present — have always idolized Jordan. The six-time champion is still widely recognized as the best player to ever live, which is why most rookies always wondered what it would be like to go up against the best.

Of course, there's no chance for Barrett to face MJ now. But he will have the opportunity to go up against the player that is considered by many as the closest to ever reach Jordan's status, LeBron James. RJ said in the same interview that he hopes to talk to the four-time MVP for some advice on how to stand out in the NBA.

At this point, Barrett is still looking up to the game's pioneers, but if he lives up to the expectations, players who will enter the league 10-15 years from now will look up to him.
