As Wayne Ellington starts his journey as a member of the New York Knicks, he asks fans for patience and promises that the team will raise some eyebrows.

Over the summer, Ellington inked a deal with the Knicks. It's his ninth team in his 11-year career. Ellington hasn't even played a single game donning the iconic Knicks jersey but he has personified what the brand is all about. Per Alex Kennedy of Hoops Hype:

“I think if they’re a little patient, everyone is going to love the end result. Like Elfrid and Bobby, I agree that we embody what New York basketball is about – the toughness, the grind.”

Ellington added that their grit will trickle on over to their defense. On offense, he has full trust that the guys assigned to score will put their best foot forward every game. As such, Ellington believes that the Knicks — who was the laughing stock of the summer for their failure to lure in the top free agents — hush the critics up and exceed their low expectations.

“We’ll be working our butts off every single night and playing as hard as possible. We’ll be picking guys up all 94 feet and bringing that defensive mentality. And obviously the name of the game is putting the ball in the basket, and we have guys who can do that as well. Everyone was obviously focusing on the other team in New York because of the signings they had this summer, but I think we’re going to shock a whole lot of people.”

If Knicks fans are to trust Ellington's words, then something special is in store for them in the next few years. But as he said, they just have to be patient.
