The offseason for the New York Knicks is expected to be a busy one with tons of moving parts. After going 41-31 in Tom Thibodeau's first year and exceeding all expectations by reaching the playoffs as the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference, the plans for Leon Rose and Co. have to be more aggressive this offseason than initially thought.

One glaring need for the Knicks is the point guard spot. Elfrid Payton started the majority of games at the one spot for New York last season and he struggled mightily. Derrick Rose and Alec Burks were awesome but both are free agents.

Rumors have started to swirl linking the Knicks to Lonzo Ball, Damian Lillard and Chris Paul once free agency hits. Now, via Shams Charania of The Athletic, New York has apparently been super aggressive in trying to acquire Cleveland Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton via trade.

“The Knicks are the most aggressive trade suitor for Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton, sources said. Sexton is eligible for his rookie extension this offseason, and with one year left on his deal, it allows Cleveland to continue to be patient in constructing the roster.”

Cleveland is in a tough spot trying to figure out whether or not to dish out the big extension to Sexton and it seems they have become more reluctant to do so. If that's the case, he could be traded this offseason and apparently, the Knicks are right in the mix.

With the Cavaliers picking No. 3 in the 2021 NBA Draft, if they trade Sexton they could lean towards drafting Gonzaga point guard Jalen Suggs as his replacement.

Last year, Sexton averaged 24.3 points per game to go along with 4.4 assists per pop. The Knicks need a facelift at point guard and it could come the way of a trade for Collin Sexton.
