When Kobe Bryant announced his retirement in November, he set the internet on fire.

The tweet, which linked to his goodbye poem ‘Dear Basketball', was retweeted quite a few times. In fact, it was the most retweeted tweet from an athlete the entire year.

Less than halfway into 2016, we already have an athlete getting more retweets.

Conor McGregor, a UFC fighter, also saw the twitter boom via a retirement tweet:

According to reports however, it's unclear whether or not he's actually retiring.

We wish that were true for Kobe, too.
