The personnel changes with the Los Angeles Lakers are still ongoing.

After Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka were named the team’s president of basketball operations and general manager, respectively, the Purple and Gold recently announced that they have hired a new director for strength and endurance training, Gunnar Peterson.

The Lakers made the announcement through their official website, NBA.com/Lakers, and are excited to have him in their fold, and be responsible for designing a new program to make sure their players are in their best shape. Pelinka said in a statement that he and Johnson have a strong relationship with him and that he shares the same vision as the organization's.

“From his time in college at Duke University until now, Gunnar has pursued excellence in training and fitness. Gunnar is a true pioneer and visionary at his craft, and will bring a new mentality to our weight room which we are all very excited about. Since Magic and I have worked with Gunnar in the past, we have a strong relationship with him, which makes working together now feel seamless.”

Peterson has established himself as one of the best personal trainers in the country and has worked with professional athletes from different sports. He is also famously known for training celebrities, including the Kardashian sisters, Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Lopez, just to name a few.

The team is hoping Peterson can make a difference in their players as his 28 years of experience is what they are banking on, as well as being a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
