Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers beat the San Antonio Spurs on Friday, but it wasn't an easy victory to say the least.

For his part, Davis acknowledged that he played horribly against the Spurs, particularly on the defensive end where he failed to make an impact for the defending champions. When asked about his defense, AD noted that he “played like shit defensively” (per Ryan Ward of Lakers Daily).

For what it's worth, Anthony Davis finished with a game-high 34 points against the Spurs. He also recorded 11 rebounds, though only four are defensive rebounds. The Lakers star added five assists and two steals in a fairly efficient night.

However, as the Lakers' defensive anchor, Davis is pinning the blame on himself for allowing the Spurs to get on rhythm offensively. The Purple and Gold trailed by four points at the end of the third quarter after Gregg Popovich's squad scored at least 25 points in each.

Fortunately for Davis and Co., they took their defensive intensity to a higher level in the final period, allowing the Spurs to score just 18 and the Lakers to pull away for good, 109-103. It was the team's second win in a row against San Antonio after also taking the W with a 121-107 scoreline last Wednesday.

The victory also gave the Lakers their fourth win of the season. LA's has only lost two games so far, in their opener against the Los Angeles Clippers and in their fourth match against the Portland Trail Blazers.
