Los Angeles Lakers rookie guard Lonzo Ball isn’t having a good time shooting the ball in his first season in the pros.

The former UCLA Bruin is making just 29.2 percent of his shots. It’s an atrocious number even for a rookie, and it made history in a bad way. What’s worse is that Ball is connecting on just 22 percent of his 3-point attempts despite taking the most 3-pointers among all Lakers. He’s made enough bricks to build a new basketball arena in Tinseltown.

Ball can’t solve his shooting woes if he’s going to stop shooting, an axiom that we assume is tattooed on the backs of J.R. Smith and Dion Waiters, and for Ball’s teammate, Brandon Ingram, one solution for Ball’s struggles is to avoid his detractors from getting under his skin, according to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters.

During the Lakers’ 107-96 loss to the Boston Celtics on Wednesday, Ball was constantly booed by Celtics fans, which could have played a part in Ball going just 4-of-15 from the field and 1-of-5 from beyond the arc for just nine points. Ball continued to lay bricks tonight against the Wizards, as he shot 3-of-12 from the floor and missed all but one of his 3-point tries.

Ball can contribute in many more ways than scoring, as he averages 6.8 rebounds and 6.8 assists to go with 8.8 points per game, but at some point, he’ll have to start shooting with more accuracy.
