The Los Angeles Lakers' expected hiring of Dan Hurley hit a speed bump recently when the UConn Huskies boss chose to stay in Storrs, Connecticut for the foreseeable future. The revolutionary hoops coach won't be joining Anthony Davis and LeBron James in Los Angeles which has heated up talk of JJ Redick to Tinseltown.

Recently, NBA legend Carmelo Anthony shared his thoughts on the situation, offering advice to the Lake Show amid their ongoing coaching search.

Anthony's comments came during James' public proclamation of support for Terrance Shannon Jr., a likely first round pick who was acquitted of rape charges. A sighting of LeBron's son Bronny sparked wild reactions at the team's practice facility.

Anthony believes the Lakers would be wise to look at James for one major reason.

The man known as ‘Melo' spoke on the 7 p.m. in Brooklyn podcast, a Wave Sports + Entertainment Original, in content published Thursday. Melo had a mouthful of advice for the Lakers plus descriptions of which coach would be best for which type of rebuilding effort.

According to Anthony, Hurley would have been brought in for one specific outcome. Redick offers perhaps a better alternative because he is younger and has a rapport with James. He called Redick a “very smart man.”

“I think JJ is a very smart man,” Anthony said. “I think he's a very – when it comes to sports, he knows his s—. How does that translate to a coach? It sounds easy, but when you're playing, when you're coaching arguably the best player in the world…”

LeBron coaching intel revealed

Recently, ESPN analyst Brian Windhorst shared his inside knowledge on the current Lakers head coaching situation. The Lakers are reportedly set to meet with Redick sometime this weekend.

“Anytime you hire a first time head coach, you're admitting that you're going to go through a learning curve,” Windhorst said recently.

“Frankly, (JJ Redick's) interviews (for the Lakers job) have been in those podcasts with LeBron James,” Brian Windhorst said about the possible Lakers head man. “They've extensively broken down the Lakers' offense. It's been out there for the whole world to hear, including from the Lakers' front office.
