Cleveland Cavaliers guard Jordan Clarkson gave Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma some friendly advice.

Clarkson told Kuzma to start packing his bags after the latter was mentioned in trade talks anew. The New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly pushing for the inclusion of Kuzma in any deal for Anthony Davis, which is likely to happen in the coming days. The Lakers and the Pelicans have already revisited their talks for a Davis trade.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Lakers are trying to hold on to Kuzma, who have shown promising potential in his first two seasons in the league. The 23-year-old forward, who was drafted 27th in the 2017 NBA Draft, averaged 17.3 points and 5.9 rebounds in his first two years with the Lakers.

The Lakers are determined to keep him, but it remains to be seen whether or not they could find a more attractive package without adding the former Utah standout. Los Angeles is reportedly shopping the fourth pick in the 2019 NBA Draft in the hope of finding another “high-level player” to send to the Pelicans.

The Lakers hold some leverage in the negotiation, as teams were informed that Los Angeles is his preferred destination.

This means that other teams who want to get a piece of Davis will make a huge gamble, as he could turn into a one-year rental because of his option to become a free agent in 2020.
