Even after winning a championship, the Los Angeles Lakers haven't skipped a beat and are consistently trying to get better. The latest rumor has the Purple and Gold acquiring San Antonio Spurs star DeMar DeRozan in a trade that sends Danny Green and Kyle Kuzma to Texas in return.

The Lakers adding a former All-Star to the mix gives them one of the best, if not the best, big three in the NBA. DeRozan would provide LA a reliable third scoring option on offense, making them even more dynamic.

Amid the trade rumors, however, DeRozan appeared on the “All the Smoke” podcast where Matt Barnes asked about the trade rumors linking him to the Lakers.

DeRozan went on to explain that growing up in LA and idolizing Kobe Bryant, he used to envision himself playing for the Lakers.

“You always want to be wanted. When you see things about teams wanting you, you can't feel a type of way. You better feel good about it, because there are guys that are not wanted,” the Spurs combo guard added.

DeMar DeRozan explained further that in the NBA, being wanted by an NBA champion team is a great thing. after all, not everyone in the league is fortunate enough to be wanted by a team–never mind a champion.

The 31-year-old vet never actually said whether or not he wanted to play for the Lakers. However, it would be hard to imagine him declining to play in his hometown for the defending champions.

DeMar, who has had his playoff struggles, has an opportunity of a lifetime: to join the NBA champions and play with one of the greatest players to touch the hardwood in LeBron James.
