LeBron James will switch back to No. 6 for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2021-22 after spending his first three seasons in L.A. rocking No. 23.

On Thursday, we got a sweet behind-the-scenes look at James' new threads being produced, as LeBron No. 6 Lakers unis officially went on sale. Check out LeBron's purple-and-gold threads being cranked out in the factory, courtesy of Fanatics.

LeBron has wavered between No. 23 and No. 6 throughout his two-decade career. James donned No. 23 during his first stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers (2003-2010). The Miami Heat retired Michael Jordan's No. 23, forcing James to switch to No. 6 after he took his talents to South Beach (if you remember — early reports of James' filing the paperwork to switch numbers signaled a possible move to Miami.)

After four seasons in Miami, James switched back to No. 23 for his return to the Cavs.

The Lakers' history of players wearing No. 6 not named LeBron James is, by the way, quite amusing.

Anthony Davis also wore No. 23 for his seven seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans but had to switch to No. 3 following the trade to Los Angeles, with James already on board. According to The Athletic, James wanted to switch to No. 6 and give Davis No. 23 after the trade, but league rules and Nike's preferences delayed the switch. Davis will remain in No. 3 for 2021-22.

James wore No. 6 for the Tune Squad in “Space Jam: A New Legacy.”
