Los Angeles Lakers forward Jared Dudley was signed this past summer to infuse an added veteran presence into a roster that has been mostly reliant on the old heads.

Dudley is playing just over eight minutes per game in 34 appearances this year, but he is plenty willing to take on all comers. He has received criticism from many fans who wonder why he's on the roster, with many curious why he got a spot over Carmelo Anthony.

The 34-year-old took to Twitter to challenge his haters to a game of one-on-one while iterating, in as many words, that there are indeed levels to this game:

Jared Dudley has a point. There are over 400 players on standard contracts in the NBA, which is a pretty small number all things considered. As the NCAA slogan states, “most of them will go pro in something other than sports.” Dudley is in his 13th year in the league, so teams clearly have respect for what he brings to the table, even if some fans wonder why he's still in the league.

Even though Dudley has not seen much of the floor for the Lakers, he has been a steady and vocal presence in the locker room. In fact, Dudley even had words of wisdom for Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving in terms of navigating the media in New York.

Via Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson of Heavy.com:

Jared Dudley: When you’re a star sometimes honesty is not the answer and those are more for role players like myself, I bet you there’s a lot of stuff LeBron feels or wants to say but it’s a game. He has to learn how to play the game the right way. Not to take the heat off of himself, but to take the heat off of the organization and his teammates. Because at the end of the day, Kyrie is going to do what he wants to do but you don’t want to affect the organization and the players’ energy you need the most to win games.

Jared Dudley has never been afraid to voice his opinions, but it seems only fair given he has so much experience.

Boy, it would be fun to see him trash talking a common citizen while he roasts them on the basketball court.
